About Us

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:124) -
Allah then says, “Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people.”
Ibrahim asks about his descendants, to which Allah responds, “My covenant does not include the wrongdoers.”

Our Story

In 2016, nine organizations met in Durban to brainstorm. They observed that as Islam was spreading in SADC countries, there will be a growth in the formation of dawah-based NGOs. They foresaw that these NGOs would require trained, educated, and developed people to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The target audience will be Shuyuk, Imams, Muezzins, Ustaads, Duat, volunteers, tertiary students and Board members. It was decided to develop a leadership programme incorporating soft and hard skills and that there should also be a continuous learning process. The Southern Africa Leadership Academy (SALA) provides training which develops and assist Muslim NGOs, dawah volunteers and Imams in their daily operations. Several short-skill courses or modules were identified for the training to be conducted over two years. They are reviewed regularly.
